We are delighted to inform you that Mersal Dental is now part of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a groundbreaking federal initiative aimed at enhancing access to dental care for Canadians without private insurance. Recognizing the vital role oral health plays in overall wellness, the CDCP is designed to assist millions who might otherwise miss essential dental treatments due to financial barriers. By joining this program, we are dedicated to delivering top-notch dental services to everyone in our community.
Accessing your CDCP benefits at Mersal Dental in Ottawa is straightforward — simply schedule your appointment and notify our team that you will be using these benefits. We are here to support you throughout the entire process. With the CDCP plan, we are eager to extend our services to even more community members. Thank you for choosing us for your dental care needs.
Eligibility: The CDCP is tailored for Canadian residents with an adjusted family net income below $90,000 who lack dental insurance. Initially, the plan focuses on seniors 65 and older, adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate, and children under 18. Expanded eligibility will be introduced in 2025.
Coverage: The plan encompasses a broad spectrum of dental services. Basic services include exams, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. It also covers more complex procedures such as root canals, gum disease management, crowns, dentures, and certain oral surgeries. Some major treatments, like orthodontics, may require preauthorization.
Costs: The CDCP employs a sliding scale for co-payments based on income. Families with incomes under $70,000 are exempt from co-payments, while those earning between $70,000 and $89,999 will incur co-payments ranging from 40% to 60%. Additional costs may arise if the CDCP rate is lower than the dentist’s standard fees or for services not covered by the plan.
Providers: Dental care providers bill Sun Life, the plan’s administrator, directly for eligible services. It is important to confirm that your dentist participates in the CDCP and to discuss any potential out-of-pocket costs before receiving treatment.
Application Process: Managed by Service Canada, applications will open in phases starting December 2023. Applicants must provide personal and financial information and have filed a tax return for the previous year.
Note: CDCP benefits may not cover the entire cost of your dental services, and you might need to pay a balance on your bill. We are happy to assist with this, but it’s crucial to understand your coverage before your appointment.
